One day about 4 and a bit years ago my whole view of the world, as it stood, had a monumental shift... for the better (I might add). I was expecting our first bambino. Boy were we excited.So excited were we that my mind started doing cartwheels and all sorts of crazy creations came. The most fun creation of them all was a little dude that we named 'Cheeky Funky'. With a passion for all things active, crazy and a little daring; something we hoped we would share on our future off spring. Daring to be different, Daring to be bold. 'another one day' came along about 2 years ago, whilst carrying bambino numero deux. Having done the token antenatal classes with both pregnancies, the pregnancy yoga and read all the pregnancy books on earth I was quite shocked that antenatal education had become, well how can I say it, a little boring (gasp) and definitely not daring to be different. Childbirth is a normal, natural process (is it not?), and has always been my way of thinking. So with this thought in mind I set out on my quest to bring a little Cheek and a little Funk to all things pregnancy and birth. I am now a fully FEDANT (federation of antenatal teaching) approved birth educator hoorah and I teach the Daisy Birthing™ program. Currently I am about to undertake further training to qualify and teach mum and baby classes postnatally. The Daisy Baby program is genius and I only wished I knew all the stuff when I just had a baby would have been a much smoother journey! Be bold in your pregnancy. She was born in the birthing pool in superman style as she came out with her head and hand at the same time and miraculously I didn't tear so very chuffed. Exhausted but it was well worth it and I was commended on my breathing techniques. It all went smoothly, brighton did a really good job and very supportive and the breathing helped a lot. Breast feeding is going fantastic so far as well. They felt strong and fast and I had to ride to hospital kneeling up! We arrived at midday, had time to fill the birthing pool, got in at 12.25 and had Lola at 12.35. it was my perfect birth and SO different to Izzy. The cord stopped naturally, I fed Lola in the pool and they let us home at 6.30 so we could put Izzy to bed altogether. Just to let you know that I gave birth to a beautiful little girl amelie Freya at 6:53am this morning weighing a healthy 7lb 3 1/2 oz. I managed to hold off going to the hospital until 2am and was 7cm dilated on arrival due to all the db movements I was doing. She was born in the birthing pool in superman style as she came out with her head and hand at the same time and miraculously I didn't tear so very chuffed. Exhausted but it was well worth it and I was commended on my breathing techniques. We got a gorgeous boy, weighing 9.12!! It all went really well, and was going to have a water birth, however I had to be induced when I was 9 and half cm dilated as a piece of cervix wouldn't move. It all went smoothly, brighton did a really good job and very supportive and the breathing helped a lot. Breast feeding is going fantastic so far as well. Ill pop along to a next group or meeting, when iv got myself sorted :) xxx''I did it! After 17 hours and a trip to the hospital as I was bleeding I had him at home in the pool. Was a wonderful birth with wonderful midwives and support team. He was back to back and I had my waters broken as I wasn't dilating for hours but that soon kicked things off! Gas was good and I was soon pushing him out with the low deep voice we did in class. Also the heel to toe walk was good. Only two hours in hospital before she popped out, all done with just breathing/gas and air and many loud animal noises!!
